DONATEThe inaugural year of the College Premiership Division in 2011 was an exciting and challenging step for UCLA Rugby. Since the rededication eight years ago by a group of Bruin Rugby Alumni with the appointment of Scott Stewart as Head Coach, the goal has always been to return the UCLA Rugby program to the glory days it enjoyed in the past and again become competitive on a national level. We are making tremendous strides in that direction but face a persistent struggle to meet our operating expenses which, with a full-time Director of Rugby and travel costs, now have entered the six figure range. Sadly, the contribution of Alumni has lowered into the teen percentile. That means that over 80% of former players have yet to donate to support the team. We need to change that. So we are offering several ways that you can help us meet our budgetary goals. For either program, please navigate to the secure UCLA Recreation site and in the drop-down menu click on Friends of Men’s Rugby - Current Expenditure to complete the information. EVERYONE MUST PLEDGE Any player who has ever pulled on a Bruin Rugby jersey knows what that jersey represents. That jersey is the symbol of a tradition of excellence in sport and in education. Yet the percentage of those former players (over 1500) who have contributed to the program has dwindled below 20%. We are asking everyone who has felt the pride and history of playing rugby at UCLA to pledge. Everyone Must Pledge. We understand times are tough for many, but we believe every former player must contribute something. Most can contribute at least one hundred dollars a year, every year. Many spend that on dinner once a month. We really need former Bruin Ruggers, Alumni and their family to pledge a donation or sign up to have a small amount charged to a credit card each month, $10, $20, $50, $100 a month or more for UCLA Rugby. No amount is too small and every dollar is appreciated. Please click here to pledge. SPONSOR A PLAYER Each year it is a challenge to meet our operating costs and for the 20011-12 season our dues will be expensive to begin with. Our players are campaigning to raise an average of $2,000 per head in order to run the program. Achieving this will require our students to enlist the support of all parents, friends, local businesses and Alumni. The more the students can raise, the more they can offset their dues. Our goal is to ensure that every player in the squad is sponsored for the season so please help out by making a pledge today. Please also put together a list of contacts that the students may reach out to initially to gather some early success & momentum. Then be directed to the secure University donation page to make your pledge.
